We are on version 6.1.

I have a *IPDS device description that is configured as an Infoprint
Server that will send spooled files as PDF to an email recipient. The
device has been configured as instructed by IBM on this page:

I also have a test printer file that has one line of text that consists of
210 characters. When I compile this PRTF with default parameters (only
changing the PAGESIZE to "66 210 *ROWCOL") and print on the PDF-device, the
result is a PDF file where the text does not fit on the page (page
orientation is landscape). This result was expected.

Then, I compile the same printer file but this time I also change the CPI
parameter to "15". When I send the result to the PDF printer, the result is
a PDF file, orientation landscape, but this time the text fits nicely. This
was also expected.

Then, I change the CPI to an even higher value (20). This time when I send
the result to the PDF printer, the result is exactly the same as the first
print. The file has landscape orientation, but the text does NOT fit. It
gets cut off at the same point as when using default parameters (CPI 10).
This was NOT expected. As CPI 15 results in fitting text, I expected a
higher value to also fit.

At first I thought CPI values above 15 were not supported by the Infoprint
Server. However, when I change the PAGESIZE to "66 160 *ROWCOL" and set CPI
to 20, I get text that fits on the pdf file, but orientation this time is
portrait!

Now, I can explain why this last result has portrait orientation. The
default value for the PAGRTT parameter is *AUTO and with CPI 20 160
characters will fit nicely on portrait orientation, so there is no need to
rotate the page.

What I can NOT explain, is why the CPI 20 value does not work on the 210
character line, while the CPI 15 value does not give any problems. Does
anyone on this list have any ideas?
