It may be worth your while getting a copy of Beginning DB2 (From novice to professional) - I'm studying it at the moment..

Your original question is demonstrated at length in there..

Also you can use DB2 to Create a table and copy fields using select straight to a new table in a couple of lines of SQL..

create table StatusCopy as (select ststat,stsdes from status)
with data

This builds a file with only the required columns and data.. or if you just want to build the file without data..
create table StatusCopy as (select ststat,stsdes from status)
definition only
