My wife makes a quarterly long weekend trip to Chicago. That satisfies her
cravings to see her friends. Lately, the friends have been coming down here.
They can't believe how quiet it is in this town of 2300 an hour east of
Houston.

Oh how I know it would be, but it's hard to convince my wife and kids
(leaving friends). Every year it gets harder to stay, but that first
spring day in MN when the sun hits your back is the best feeling and almost
makes it worthwhile (almost).

I imagine you get that every morning in TX, though! :)

It's definitely worth the move, Brad. We moved out of Chicago about 8

I won't call that a good idea... I've been hinting to my wife I wouldn't
mind moving down south (TX, AZ, NM, etc) as I can run my business from
anywhere. (She's a teacher, though, so that may be a little harder to
move
away from her job and friends).

Growing up in ND and MN the cold is getting kinda old. :)

Or maybe it's just me getting old!

I got a call from the office a few minutes ago (I'm at home 40 minutes

on a clear day). Seems that the snow and ice we've gotten this week is
starting to melt, and the office is "flooded." I put that in quotes
because
they could never clarify how deep the water is.

Anyway, I had checked on the System i earlier this morning and again
after
the call. The system normally sits on the floor. I did a PWRDWNSYS
*IMMED
from here and told them to pull the system off of the floor. The
cables
(twinax, Ethernet, you-name-it) all run on the floor after exiting the
conduits. They have called a service company to dry things out and fix
the
damage.

Other than the power down and raising the system off of the floor is
there
anything else we should do?

I'm going to have them call our system maintenance company early next
week
before they power it back up.
