I would like to set my prompt PS1='$PWD $ ' for both STRQSH and call
QP2TERM environments. I created a .profile file in my /home/user/
directory which works fine, but when I use QP2TERM, it expects that
file to be in ASCII format.

How can I set my prompt for both STRQSH and QP2TERM? Im assuming I
can use /home/user/.profile for both?

Create the file and text as ASCII instead of EBCDIC, and assign the file the appropriate ASCII CCSID; the QSH will properly translate the ASCII due to the proper CCSID tagging.
