I've replaced the cache batter on my 515 twice now... it's a hassle,
but easy. Battery can be found on ebay, or I bet Larry could get you one too.
They're basically like those old wireless phone batteries.

Thanks. I have no idea who is doing the replacement. Just seemed high.
Not my responsibility. I was asked to try to determine when a backup
was performed. I think IBM is doing the battery - somebody wanted to
know if there was a good backup. Data area QSAVSYS showed last save
in 2005. No idea why I would be asked to verify when a backup was
done on a system over athousand miles away, when they have somebody on site.
When cache battery was replaced at my location, it was quick. Of
course, at my site, it was only at warning level. No idea how long
it has been failed at remote site. Possibly several years.

NiMH Batteries are about $20 and labor is about an hour, but two if
it's in the CEC.
Li-ION Batteries are about $200 (depending on supplier) and labor
can be as little as 20 minutes and maybe as up to two.
If this is IBM they will ask for a P.O. for as much as they think is
the upper limit. They will charge you actual but remember they have
a HIGH hourly rate and a minimum number of hours and much higher
battery prices than those above.

I learned today that the remote 520 will get cache battery replacement.
