Vern,

1) I've seen many failures over years following a Java upgrade.
2) Many apps, both IBM and 3rd party, hardcode the version of Java being used. Thus it is difficult to test a new version of Java.
3) Some of these apps will change Java versions on an i5/OS upgrade, also hard to test.
4) One must spend many man hours identifying, (DSPJVMJOB, WRKJVMJOB) what versions of Java are being used before attempting any Java updates.

- I for one won't agree that I know that - can you say more about this?

If an app needs a certain version of Java, they should know how to specify which JVM they want - it's up to the app, seems to me, to "play well".

I'm looking at installing Java 7 as a requirement for a 3rd Party product upgrade. Currently everything I run on my system is happy with Java 6.
Anyone have any issues after installing Java 7? This is an IBM i 7.1 partition.
