However, just because there are risks is no reason to totally avoid
certain operations. You just have to know what you are doing and do it
carefully.
- Some may never divide because that would avoid the possibility of any
divide by zero operations.
- Some may never use pointers because they heard back in the 60's that
they could crash their mainframe by using pointers wrong.
If mutexes are (not saying they are), but if they are the best fit I
wouldn't discard them out of hand because of some difficulty in learning
how to use them properly.
