What I have done in the past is save the receiver to tape and use
the STG(*FREE) parm. This has given me back the DASD and kept the receiver
chain intact.

I *think *(but I don't really remember) that I could restore an old
receiver leaving freed receivers between the restored one and more current
receivers.

Depending on the specific task at hand, a different CPYAUDJRNE ENTTYP(JS)

If not possible, I will delete some oldest receivers, nearing 95%.

After reading the help I was hoping that you were trying to restore a
receiver that was attached at the time. But my attempts were futile also.

What about near line storage? Like some tape in your library that is not
in BRMS.

Can QAUDIT journal receivers be restored to a different library on another
LPAR?
I have DASD space available on another LPAR, I would like to restore
production QAUDJRN receivers to that LPAR in a different library.

Message . . . . : Cannot restore
receiver Q88E380328 into library JRNLIB05.
Cause . . . . . : Journal receiver
Q88E380328 cannot be restored into
library JRNLIB05 because the
library is not the original library for the
journal receiver in the original
ASP group nor the redirected library in the
redirected ASP group if the journal
receiver is to be associated with a
remote journal.

Recovery . . . : The rules used when associating restored journal
receivers with journals are: -
A saved journal receiver that was attached to a local or any remote
journal
can be restored and associated with a local journal if the local journal
has
the same name and resides in the same library and ASP group as that of the
original local journal when the saved journal receiver was attached.
A saved journal receiver that was attached to a local journal can be
restored
and associated with a *TYPE1 remote journal if the *TYPE1 remote journal
has
the same name as that of the original local journal and resides in the
redirected library and redirected ASP group for the associated *TYPE1
remote
journals. - A saved journal receiver that was attached to a *TYPE1 remote
journal can be restored and associated with the original *TYPE1 remote
journal, or with another associated *TYPE1 remote journal, if the *TYPE1
remote journal has the same name as that of the original local journal and
resides in the redirected library and redirected ASP group for *TYPE1
remote
journals. - A saved journal receiver that was attached to a *TYPE2 remote
journal can be restored and associated only with the original *TYPE2
remote
journal. Change the name of the library in the RSTLIB parameter value.
Then
try the request again. See the APIs topic collection in the Programming
category in the IBM i Information Center,

Thank You
