Using the IBM System Storage Interoperation Center (SSIC) tool ( URL below
), it shows I would need VIOS to support a V3700 on a Power6... Darn

What I am reading is that 7.1 (properly PTF'd) is supported. But, it
mentions P7, not P6 (like the 8203-E4A I recently kicked out the door).

For direct attach configurations, support is with 4 Gb PCIe dual port
Fibre Channel adapters #5774 and #5276.

And the IBM prerequisite site says the E4A can power up that 5774 "Only
supported in base system unit".

BTW, if you already have a 5774 running your fiber attached tape library
the tremors I'm picking up from the ground are saying it's bad practice to
run both your disk san and your tape library on the same card.

Methinks I had a 5774 or two in my old hardware...
Checked some old docs. Not in my E4A but in my P6 9117-MMA. For our SAN
attached tape library. Our 9408-M25 also had one for the same purpose.
