Even thick client interfaces will make the expert users mad. It's not just about the speed either
I installed a nice Windowsy interface for one guy and he couldn't see it no matter how big we made the font.
He was using client access and had his sessions full screen in a 1280x800 monitor. He also was best friends with the owner of the company so when he complained we all heard about it.

I can't remember the name of those data entry stations that used to write
data to 8" diskettes..
But anyhow some of those "gals" were amazing - as you say keying two pages
in advance...

Does "type ahead" work good?
We have an order entry gal that keys 1 or 2 screens ahead. She's quick.
