Thank you Glenn for looking.
Was my bad....CHGVAR was not even executing based on some other IF
condition.
So when I was looking at value of &COPIES it obviously stayed 1.

Hi Mohan,

I copied your source and after adding PGM & ENDPGM, compiled and ran it.
&COPIES = 3 for me.
How are you debugging? STRDBG or how?

Hello,

I have a character variable with numeric data.
This holds number of copies that will be used on the OVRPRTF command.

DCL VAR(&COPYCHR) TYPE(*CHAR) LEN(1) VALUE('3')
DCL VAR(&COPIES) TYPE(*DEC) LEN(1 0) VALUE(1)

CHGVAR VAR(&COPIES) VALUE(&COPYCHR)
OVRPRTF FILE(WGTMNFP) MAXRCDS(*NOMAX) HOLD(*YES) COPIES(&COPIES)

Let us say the value of &COPYCHR is a '3' before the CHGVAR command.
After the CHGVAR executes, the value of &COPIES remains a 1.

Please help.

Thanks
