Assuming that the 10 digit order number is numeric
Try the following
Where '01' concat digits(order8) = digits(order10)

Digits makes the numeric into alpha, with any leading zeroes

Subject: how to select and join on substring

I have to create a view - our order#s are 8 position, numeric.

we use varsity ship package, there the order# is 10. they add usually '01'
right most

Can I select records
joining File8 to File10

where order8 = (order10, 8 ) =left(order10,8)
