We have a job that reads the QSYSOPR msgq every 5 minutes using the QGYOLMSG API, checking for inquiry messages and critical messages.

Subject: best method to monitor QSYSOPR queue
Have been tasked to implement a monitor over QSYSOPR message queue for messages with halts, plus hardware warnings, on V7R1 system. No $$, and little time. Needs to send email to multiple addresses (in a table). Lot's of network staff & programmers, but no one watches the i (till something goes missing..) In pre-navigator or Systems Director days it was not too hard to do. Sys Director not currently implemented, and appears to take some time to set up.
What are people doing these days (when no budget for software, and only a few hrs allocated as a side project)?
