This is outstanding news. It looks like IBM has really done things right.
So, my hosting lpar is 7.2. It's all SSD. My guest lpar is still 7.1. It
knows that the host is all SSD (thank you IBM!). And, since it is still
only 7.1, if you set the UNIT(*SSD) on the files it will use the better
thread support. And when we upgrade it to 7.2 we won't even have to use
the UNIT(*SSD) and it will still take advantage of the better threading.
Great.
Back when we were a mixed disk shop we had already ran the appropriate
CHGPF and CHGLF on our ERP data to ensure that they stayed on SSD. Seems
like most of them still are. From DSPFD:
Preferred storage unit . . . . . . . . . . : UNIT *SSD
