If only the old farts want this then explain the popularity of Profound
UI, openLook, etc?

Effective marketing. Good products. Good customer support.

OA generated a wave of interest, but how long can you ride a wave? How long
can a wave last?

The long-term trend seems to support totally free form syntax, and
procedural interfaces. Once you move to an MVC design pattern, you end up
having more source members without "F" specs - which are only in the DB I/O
modules. Perhaps only 25% of our source members have "F" specs.
