Like this:

SELECT A.HRSTNO, A.HRADTE, A.HRAPNO, A.HRPSS#,
A.HRRSTS,Max(B.GPKEY) FROM hrsaplp a, gecapdp b WHERE A.HRSTNO=
b.gpstor and A.HRAPNO = b.gpapnm and a.hrrsts = '9' and hradte
between 20140727 and 20140728 GROUP BY A.HRSTNO, A.HRADTE,
A.HRAPNO, A.HRPSS#, A.HRRSTS ORDER BY a.hrstno

Aha! It's actually a MIN value I need...it's a character field with a
different length and left justified. Seems like there was some bad data
about a year ago...interesting.
