My predecessor had our systems set up to use SNDPTFORD to download images
(on each partition!), but for some bizarre reason I had some problems where
I wasn't getting 'complete' orders on one partition. When I opened a PMR to
resolve the issue, the IBM'r suggested using Fix Central and ordering image
packages to be downloaded via FTP because that process tells you exactly
how many bytes are in the package so you can check to ensure you do get the
complete download. And the other benefit of doing this is that it's easy to
FTP them from one partition to the other partitions and therefore only have
to download the order once. So to answer one of your questions I think the
FTP process from fix central is just as easy as SNDPTFORD. IBM gives you
all the instructsion step by step. And I do plan to continue applying cumes
and groups all at once, however my strategy is to do that and then apply
those permanently before I do any TR updates.
