The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
We've been running into issues lately in managing remote servers (services) that connect to the i.
We found that following an IPL, system save, restricted state, etc, that these remote services may not always reconnect, may need to be bounced.
The behavior is inconsistent, sometimes it works without a recycle, other times one is needed.
If the remote server is a Linux box, we currently use SSH to stop/start services from the iSeries, (no storing a user/password).
If the remote server is Windows box, we don't have a good secure solution, users/passwords are currently stored in scripts.
There is a work in progress, where, using a WMI, a Linux box would control the Windows box.
This would mean we would send a SSH command to the Linux box, which, using WMI, would forward to the Windows box.
Does anyone else have these same issues?
Has anyone found a good solution to control Windows services from the i.
Thank You
