It is very strictly ISVs Vern. There's not even an equivalent for consultants or educators. As you can imagine this lack is something I have had many conversations with IBM folk about.

There are few things about MS that I like - but the way that they encourage (via MSDN and pother vehicles) people to use their OSs and development software make certainly encourage you to use their stuff. Wish I could say the same about Rational.

Craig is right - with IBM, you first need to become a partner - it's possible albeit fussy, and you need to have a product idea to become one. I don't know how long it will be before IBM wants to actually see it!

Partnership is free - then you can purchase SAC - somewhere around $1000 a year.

We had it at my previous job - it was very nice to have, well worth it for ISVs.

There's nothing like it for us civilians, though - I don't know if MSDN is available to anyone off the street, of if you also need to tell MS what you have in mind product-wise.
