Hi, Mark:

If you search (with google) for "TNAPI" by Albert York, (see http://www.albertyork.yolasite.com/samples.php ) it is a free sample program that you could use to do what you are asking for (e.g. build a "screen scraper" application). Albert's TNAPI is probably much easier to use, compared with trying to learn to use the Virtual Terminal APIs directly, as that requires knowledge of and direct use of "raw" 5250 data streams.

Since you say you will upload the data to an IOS/400 system and convert it to a "database file", it might be easier to just write a program that reads this database file and then directly populates the file(s) where the data ultimately needs to go ... versus driving some "green screen" interactive application to load the data that way ...

there been one published that can be downloaded?

The goal is to automate a large "data load" into some green screen
applications. The initial pass will contain all the mandatory
elements, most likely in an Excel spreadsheet, which I would upload
and convert to a DB file. I want to have my program grab that data
and populate the screen fields, press enter or any appropriate function keys.
