That drive is compatible with both the 7208-222 and 342 models, both of
them are controlled with a 2749 HVD Tape CTL.
Any of those drives should read the tapes.
I don't think it's possible to install a 6390 drive in a 520...

We do have an internal 8mm tape drive (P/N 16G8566) that came out of the
original machine and that was used to create the tapes we are trying to
read. I don't know how one would go about installing that into the 9406.
