Taking into account that POWER still uses an old-as-hell NC/NO interface
instead of rs232 or the like, the idea of using a box to add the logic is
GREAT! in fact it's the only advantage i see to that dammed old interface.
Look at the schematics for the cable, it's just a couple relays that either
close or open depending on the current status. So, you would only need to
AND or OR the signals you want. Still that box is for an electronics
hobbyist or tinkerer to build, definitely not CRU...
Programmer way would be to have both UPS have ethernet interface with SNMP
and a service program query them for updates, which also avoids the problem
that happens when only one phase is lost and the system starts a shutdown
anyways...

Best Regards,

We have an 8202-E4D with redundant power supplies (2 AC).

Mgmt wants to connect each AC to a different UPS for UPS redundancy.

We only have one port for the RJ45 UPS sensor cable (P1-T2).

IBM suggested that we could build a box with two RJ45 in and one RJ45
out (or two DB9 to one DB9) that would detect UPS status from either UPS
and send one signal to the IBMi.

Anyone have this box or know where to get one?

Thanks,

Jerry
