All I know is that SEU was ONLY choking on that particular source member AND the PL/1 compiler is completely borked on that system.
When the compiler is installed on the system, there are also message-ID's that are installed too.
An example RNF5014 means "invalid OpCode"
It resides in message file: QRPGLEMSG in Library: QDEVTOOLS
So yes, there is syntax checking that goes on, and once checked, there are specific messages that appear in SEU.
Changing the member type to TXT should correct it.
