You don't even need to do that. Just make sure that you select System i Navigator menu path Options-->Allow Save Results and you can right-click anywhere on the grid and save the results to your PC. The bonus is that it also saves the column headers.

Use Navigator, run the query, highlight the results (click the first cell, shift-end, shift-ctrl-end) and copy (use ctl-insert) to the clipboard, then paste into a spreadsheet. Save the spreadsheet as csv (or whatever separator).

Subject: DB2 Control Center: Is that for DB2 on IBM i also?

I have a ticket opened with IBM Sametime. They want me to use DB2
Control
Center to export some tables from the database for Sametime. This is the
WAS based Sametime and yes, it does store some data in the qsys.lib file
system. Admittedly this gentleman is unfamiliar with DB2 on IBM i but he
believes that DB2 Control Center is a client that runs on Windows or Linux
clients and can access DB2 on multiplatforms (including IBM i). I don't
think he's actually ever used it to access db2 on IBM i. Well, I am
thinking that there must be other ways to skin this cat. He's wanting it
exported to a delimited file. I figure I could use File Transfer but I
wondered if the database portion of the fat client System i Navigator
would have an 'Export' function in the tables part of database. Nope.
Figuring that is deprecated I tried the web version IBM Navigator for i
and that does have an Export function. Their Export function is much like
CPYTOIMPF (which everyone knows is just my FAVE!). It copies the file
into the stream file system, not to your client. It does have some
enhancements, like the datalink and other different columns allow you to
CAST them. The screen goes into something like:
...
normalCharacterColumn,
normalNumericColumn,
/* datalinkorclobColumn */,
...
I change that one line to
CAST (datalinkorclobColumn as char (128)) as datalinkorclobColumnChar,
...
Now, if it just didn't error out and hang... Oh well, now I am up to 10
open pmr's. Of which one could be career threatening.

So, is it just a bad trip to think that 'DB2 Control Center' is a possible
solution?
