System i Navigator - System Name - Network - Servers - TCP/IP. Right click on SMTP and select properties.
Look for Mail Router and a check box under Forward outgoing mail to router through firewall. Under 6.1 there is also a forwarding mail hub domain.

Subject: i5 email setup
Our company just switched this weekend from an on-premises Exchange server to Microsoft's hosted email solution Office 365.
Now we aren't receiving any of our i5 system generated reports that were being sent via email.
I was under the impression that the i5 was running its own SMTP server to send email, and wasn't reliant on the local Exchange server. Apparently I was wrong.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for the changes that need to be made? Can the i5 send email out over the internet without a local Exchange server in place?
