Hi Sue

I've really appreciated your input (and Larry's and Jim's) in this thread.

I've built a bunch of hosted LPAR's in the past 6 months (over half of them
have been 200Gb or less) and there are more on the horizon so every bit of
information about best practise or practical planning is invaluable to me.

Some of the sites I've been working on are transitioning away from i but
they have been mightily impressed with the virtualisation capability. Makes
it much hearder for them to take the final plunge.

Thank again for participating.

Sue, you missed that I recommended the LS PLUS 6 20 GB Drives
in my example. 6 'usable' arms minimum for a production type
partition.

Sorry, Larry. I did indeed miss the word "usable". My
apologies!

For the record, I have to say my preference would be 6 units all
at 70 GB (as seen by the client).

However, is is possible a load source at 70 GB (as seen from the
client LPAR) plus 6 additional units sized appropriately to
provide the GBs needed by the hosted LPAR could be an effective
alternative when 420 GBs is simply way too much storage. ***But
the ENDALC tactic really should be used to prevent too many
accesses to the load source unit.*** In other words a total of
7 units for the client LPAR.
