What I suggested is the networking with the folks that know hardware at the Annual Meeting or the Fall event that COMMON puts on. Plus, at the Annual Meeting IBM trots out most of it's latest hardware on display with IBMr's that actually helped design/build the dang things to explain it all. Ask them questions. Ask Pete, Larry, me, and others questions. Ask the IBMr (I won't name him) who determines the feature code/ccsid numbers, I'm guessing he knows the hardware pretty well. Sit with us at the Power Down events (CUDS for us old guys) and talk to those people that have experience. You'll learn more by doing that than sitting in a formal session anyway.

You can do that to a lesser extent at other conferences as well but sometimes the people just are not as available.

That's 90% of the value of COMMON events!
