I would expect it to be better tonight, BUT:

You didn't say what card was replaced. If it had a battery on it, the battery was likely not charged and thus the cache on that card was not in use. Now the battery will be charged and the cache will be used and performance should be better. As the card is used for Mirroring rather than RAID I don't recall if it shows degraded when the battery is dead/weak.

And yes the Mirroring status could have been resuming thus doing a LOT of I/O during that time and batch jobs get hurt the most with that.

Thanks Jack.

We started batch processing within a few mins of getting the system back and I didn't check wrksysact much. IBM said there could be some wait time involved after the card was installed but they didn't know how long. If there was an underlying lic/os issue I didn't see that in qsysopr and is it possible that it could have cleared up?

How soon after the active status was completed did you start. Maybe there
as some underlying lic/os issue after it was completed. Did you happen to
ee what your wrkactjob looked like, did it significant time to your jobs.

Yes, wrkdsksts showed all in active status.

Did you check the status of it afterwards to see what it was saying after
t was replaced and prior to starting your job cycles.

Hi Folks, anyone want to share some info and thoughts about CPI0989
Mirrored protection resumed which we got yesterday in the afternoon. IBM
recommended changing an I/O ADAPTER CARD. There were some issues with the
powering back of the card and when the system was back up we're seeing
nightly batch jobs running much longer than usual. Wrkdsksts shows
status
as active (no degraded or suspend). At the time IBM took the system to
replace the card very little was running, no users and/or nightly
processing including backups. What can I chalk the extended runtime up to
and hopefully it won't happen again tonight.

Your thoughts?

Thanks, Frank
