Whenever we have called out from the i, and the called process runs long, the answer to the problem has been call back handlers. The outbound call will contain a message ID which the called program would post back to a servlet ( used to be a net.data rpgle prior to this ) running on Tomcat on the i, along with all the data it needs to get back. The servlet would query a table keyed by the message ID and retrieve the program name and call it with the data either passed or stored In a DB2/400 table.

Then we could take the time to write responses as and when we pleased.

Regards,
Narayanan Pillai

Sent from Yahoo!
