Sam,

Where I work, we have locking problems fairly often with jobs
in that subsystem. Employees in our production plant, employees
in other time zones, employees failing to log-off, and working
late/early.

We also get locks from several MS Excel workbooks we have distributed
which lock objects due to VBA macros that update files by way of
QZDASOINIT jobs in QSERVER subsystem.

So, I know you have excellent reasons to end QUSRWRK, and maybe
QSERVER, but you may need to adjust your schedule so user support
is also respected, and be sure management understands your system
availability schedule.

I would expect some blow-back.

Subject: Shutting Down QUSRWRK During Backups

We end the QINTER SBS, among other things, before doing nightly backup.
Now I see that a QRWTSRVR job in QUSRWRK is hanging on to a file so it isn't getting saved.

Any reason why I can't end the QUSRWRK SBS before backup?

Thanks, Sam
