Does the qtsmtp* jobs have any spool files? Some jobs like to log there
instead of job logs. Especially stuff ported over from Linux (not that
smtp necessarily is).
Does one lpar have a different value in there for message forwarding or
something which may cause the smtp job to die?
On the bright side you still have 55 days you can call IBM for support for
V5R4. The clock is ticking...
I also remember stuff about ensuring that /tmp is not set so that other
jobs can't delete stuff. Starting with V5R4? IBM runs
CHGATR OBJ('/tmp') ATR(*RSTDRNMUNL) VALUE(*YES)
and you end up changing it back.
