Convert the current laptop config to a VM , upgrade and then run the old functionality as a virtual machine.
I have done that several times over the past couple of years to upgrade PCs and laptops without losing old setups.
Then you get the magic of Windows 8 with your old stuff as well.
Or... Create a Windows 8 VM on the current machine. Works just as nicely. Done that too on my Mac :-)

Just a different angle; I have a personal laptop I wanted to upgrade to
Windows 8, but delayed doing so cause I needed to have systems console plus
the system panel GUI, and that GUI would not work in W8.
However, it does work nicely in ACS.
Nothing better than sitting at the kitchen table on a Saturday morning,
drinking coffee and applying CUME's!
