I believe what's really wanted is a Try/Catch block like java or C. If ChkObj throws a CPF9800, control jump to the catch block that handles CPF9800. If any other error is thrown, control jumps to the more generic CPF0000 catch block. After the code completes, whether with messages thrown or not, control passes to the finally block, then on to the next statement after the block.

try {
ChkObj QSTRUPEX1 *Pgm /* Check for exit program. */
Call QSTRUPEX1 /* Run it. */
} catch MonMsg(CPF9800) { // no exit program
// do nothing
} catch MonMsg(CPF0000) {
// do nothing
} finally {
// do nothing
}

Subject: Leave outside of DO group???

I wrote this snippet of code:

Do
ChkObj QSTRUPEX1 *Pgm /* Check for exit program. */
MonMsg CPF9800 EXEC(Leave) /* Not there or Not Authorized */
Call QSTRUPEX1 /* Run it. */
MonMsg CPF0000
EndDo

At the LEAVE Statement I get this error:

* CPD0883 30 LEAVE command found outside of DO group.

But it sure appears to be inside a Do group to me!

Am I in error if I 'complain' to the fine folks in the land of IBM i?
