Actually, I agree with you Terry.

LEAVE & ITER are opcodes to alter the behavior of a looping construct.
DO/ENDDO are not verbs to define a looping construct.

This is only my 2 cents

1st of all, there is no reason to even be doing the "DO/ENDDO"
....you are executing the code anyway

2nd, when using a monmsg in cl, I have only seen ... EXEC(goto cmdlbl xxxx)
.....usually it just get ends the job .....not to say there are not other
possibilities

When you use DoFor, DoWhile, DoUntil
.....I would tend to think internally there would be reason to drop out
early .....and therefore has an invisible tag at the end that it can go to

With just the "DO" there isn't

You have not picked a very good example to complain about in the 1st place

So everyone will probably blow me out of the water now .....but that's only
because you are all thinking too hard about something simple

Subject: Leave outside of DO group???

I wrote this snippet of code:

Do
ChkObj QSTRUPEX1 *Pgm /* Check for exit program. */
MonMsg CPF9800 EXEC(Leave) /* Not there or Not Authorized */
Call QSTRUPEX1 /* Run it. */
MonMsg CPF0000
EndDo

At the LEAVE Statement I get this error:

* CPD0883 30 LEAVE command found outside of DO group.

But it sure appears to be inside a Do group to me!

Am I in error if I 'complain' to the fine folks in the land of IBM i?
