The DevCon folks did indeed send out a mailing to their attendees suggesting the RPG & DB2 Summit as an alternative for those who previously attended DevCon.

As a long time presenter at DevCon I was sorry to see it go but its attendance had been falling in the last couple of years and the organizers are a commercial conference company who felt they could put their resources to more profitable use.
