The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.

The database is 'normally' the system name. See Paul's response to
determine it. Normally you only have one database. I don't know if
iASP's or anything like that alter that equation.
The Database name [for the *SYSBAS disk group] is established in the
Relational DataBase Directory Entries (WRKRDBDIRE; ADDRDBDIRE); the name
corresponds to the "*LOCAL" entry. Before the Independent ASP, the /the
system/ was the effective Database; i.e. the database was able to access
every library. Since then, there is a Database per iASP.
Because the design team loathed the idea of having the system ship
with an undefined Database name, for which some configuration would be
required to enable the database, the *LOCAL entry would be established
implicitly with the System Name which also was implicitly established
from the system Serial Number. The name for the database of each iASP
is established from the special value *GEN [I believe on the ASP device
description], thus the name is /generated/ if not explicitly defined;
although I believe the /generated/ name is actually just the primary
iASP name of a disk group, which is just the name of that device.
