Hi Gad,
Generally , the first call will overlay the calling program's display. If there is a second call from the original calling program without an intervening write (refresh) of the calling program's display, the display will be erased. Make sure you specify OVERLAY in the overlaying display, and if there is a possibility of more than one call to an external program with display then refresh between calls.

Subject: Old fashion Green screen DSPFquestion
Hello guys
Hope some of the veterans here will be able to help with the following:
Pgm A with *DS4 SFL screen calls program B that displays a small *DS3 screen (DSPF B had a dummy *ASSUME record).
a CPF4169 is issued when DSPF B does not have a DSPSIZ(27 132 *DS4) line.
(curiously, when removing the *ASSUM dummy record no CPF is issued)
After changing DSPF B to DSPSIZ(24 80 *DS3 27 132 *DS4) (and keeping the *ASSUME dummy record) no CPF4169 is issued.
But,
Program B clears the screen entirely
- no background screen of PGM A is left on the screen.
*ASSUME does not seems to help.
How do I configure the DSPFs so that PGM A screen does not get cleared and is displayed in the background ?
Thanks
Gad
