I do not think that was ever asked. The original message is quoted

The UNIQUE key to this file was created as primary from DDS.
Can I either:
1) Remove the UNIQUE attribute of the column using SQL ALTER, or
2) Can I DROP the field and ADD the column back to the BEGINNING
position (1st column)?
Seems probably, that the reply with the script showing how to remove
the key, had overlooked the subject; i.e. the text in the message was
read, for which a response was composed, but the "Subject: SQL Alter
table: can I remove the UNIQUE attribute from a key?" may have been
ignored.? If one were to infer that the /subject/ properly implied the
desired effect, then the desire was not to remove the Keyed Access Path,
but instead the desire was merely to remove the UNIQUE attribute from
the Keyed Access Path... irrespective of the oddity in the second
proposed possible approach inquired-of by the OP, which I can not figure
out what was the intent, since then all of the data for the column would
be lost.
