The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
Since users connect to our web interfaces around the clock it was a high priority to reduce the amount of time that our web application environments might be down for daily backups, so we don't use compression on SAV* commands. Compression takes significant CPU resources and time.
Our daily procedures take down a web application environment, save libraries to save files w/o compression, restart the application environment, save directories to save files w/o compression.
After the application environment is restored, then we use a Zip utility to encrypt and compress the Save Files to zip stream files. Then we FTP to an offsite server, but you could just as easily save the zip files to a VTL.

Subject: Re: Compression/Compaction on Save to Virtual Tape
In the case of *DEV... it does not compress. The other options appear to
work well with Savefiles, but the cmd fails when used to a virtual tape at
least on this V6R1M1 partition.
