I missed all this banter while I was in Austin as I didn't have my new phone tuned to my Midrange-L mailbox.

Jane and I had a lovely time touring Austin with you and your wife. Thank you both for a great time. So good to put faces with names on this list.

Took Dan Kimmel and his wife on a drive around town last night.

When we dropped them off at the Hilton at around 10:00 pm, Dan was talking about getting donuts.

Here's the place:

Paul knows a lot of good eating places from Austin to San Marcos to San Antonio. He recommended a couple Mexican places in SA, I went to one (Mi Tierra Cafe), marvelous, still have the t-shirt!

How DOES he keep his svelte figure? Oh yeah - chasing those deer out of his yard!

I ate last night at the Iron Cactus Mexican Grill & Margarita bar. The food was amazing, and the Margaritas were pretty good as well.

Highly recommend for those coming down.

Pete

Dude,

If you're gonna eat Mexican food for breakfast tomorrow, you're gonna ride on the roof when we go to Lockhart.

Perhaps there are also those who might be interested to join me for a breakfast burrito at 'Juan in a Million' tomorrow morning:

Anyone coming into Austin early, perhaps on Friday afternoon/evening? I will not be attending COMMON, but I'll be (at home) in Austin on Friday.
I have a full-sized Yukon, and I can comfortably take up to six people on a drive-about around Austin to see some of the scenic areas.

(Oh, and to keep it on topic for Midrange-L, we'll be talking about advanced CL programming techniques...)

I have gotten responses from a few folks already, but if you're coming to Austin and are interested in making a jaunt to Lockhart for some barbecue, let me know. I am planning to rent a 12 or 15 passenger van.

The agenda is simple. I will pick up the group at the convention center around noon on Sunday (Saturday afternoon is also an option), and we'll travel about 30 minutes to Lockhart to sample 2 different places. Both are a short walk apart. Black's is the place for beef brisket and beef ribs.
Smitty's Market is the place to go for pork ribs and chops and sausage. If you're still hungry, we can go back to the van and drive another mile down to Chisholm Trail.

I can guarantee you won't have room for any food at the Expo. :-))
