Given the rise of the of the Android and the rapid churn in OS versions I *highly* recommend that you avoid native app development and stick with HTML5 and platforms like PhoneGap (now aka Cordova). I have been working with PhoneGap for two plus years, introducing the first Common Scheduler app in Minneapolis in 2011. HTML5, css, Javascript, Ajax, JSON are all very transferable skills and that is all you need to know to write a mobile app on the PhoneGap stack and then you can deploy to Android, iPhone, Blackberry, MS Phone, Symbian, etc. Beats the heck out of learning objective C or Java to write iOS and Android apps.

IMHO.

Jim, I was just teasing when I said that it is a "big fail" that Austin
barbeque restaurants are not yet included in the COMMON iPad app.

My intent with the original post "COMMON iPad app" was to draw people's
attention to the fact that the app is available for iPad (and possibly
iPhone). I admire the COMMON organization for producing this app.

I own these books on iPad development but have not yet committed to
learn.
