5770SS1-SI49730 was the only PTF downloaded when I ordered the DB2 group,
so I'm assuming that's it.

You're only telling us group 23, not "(The PTF that fixes everything)".
So, I'll have to download group 23 and look at every ptf that's not
applied to try to figure it out?

The odds are much higher that a group ptf is going to have at least one
ptf that either requires an IPL, or such draconian measures that you may
as well IPL. If we could get that individual PTF number that would help.

It said in the PTF cover letter for the superceeding PTF (The PTF that
fixes everything), that if damage has already occurred, you have to call
IBM. If no damage, then you just can install the PTF and be done. I am
not sure if it went on with or without an IPL. You would have to reread
the cover lettter. We fixed all our customer PTF images to have 23
loaded.

Is it like so bad that even if you only IPL once a quarter you should
break this rule? Really takes a lot of coordination.

This is an older post from a few weeks ago, but if you have DB Group Level

22, you need to immediately upgrade to 23, as there are defective PTFs in
22 that will damage some objects on your machine. 23 has the fixes or
superceeded PTFs. Since we had discussed in this thread upgrading to 22
to get the cool features below, you will want to get the new level to keep

you out of trouble. Read the cover letter on the one PTF as it will tell
you what to look for.
