That is perfect. D-Mode Manual IPL from the I_BASE_01 CD, which will load and initialize the system, then IPL from that on the A side. You will come back up to DST, where you want to setup Raid, and then add your other disks to the ASP. Then load the operating system. When that is done, you will be presented a regular menu, where you do a GO LICPGM, and install all the license programs you want. Put your keys in, load your PTFs and you are almost done. Get a full system backup for recovery, and now you are done.

Subject: How to perform a clean V5R4 install?

Hi All,

it took me some time, but finally i was able to secure the license keys that were installed on my system. I also obtained the V5R4 media set (CDs).
Now i'm ready to perform a new, crisp installation of my machine.

I've looked around, but didn't find a conclusive answer how i should perform this action.
What i want to do is perform a new install of the LIC and OS.

It looks like i have to IPL in Manual mode type D, boot from the CD (I_BASE_01_i5_xxxxx) to install the V5R4M5 LIC, restart the machine, and from there use the B29xx_01 media while performing an IPL type A in Manual mode.

Is this correct?

Machine is a 9406-800, software to install is, as mentioned, V5R4M5.

Thanks in advance,

Rene.
