You can't that I know of - they are SQL names and will always be used by SQL.

So you may need to make a alias of one of them - or both, to the same name - in each SELECT in the UNION.

How do I tell SQL to use short (10 byte) names instead of alias field names?

Issue: I am CREATEing a table with a union and SQL errors out because the ALIAS field names are not identical between the two union input files. But the 10-byte names are identical.
