It looks similar to what we do but we specify a physical volume ID, not *MOUNTED, but that may just be our desire to use specific volumes. We specify COMPACT *YES in the command. We move the virtual volume from the ProtecTIER shelf to the ProtecTIER library and use WRKMLBBRM to locate the volumes and use option 6 to change their statuses but we don't do a MOVMEDBRM.

We do this all the time using ProtecTIER and BRMS networking. Save done
on Sys 1 to ProtecTIER device. ProtecTIER device replicates to ProtecTIER
device at remote location. We do DUPMEDBRM at remote site to physical
tape and BRMS networking sends data to systems where we've configured it
to be sent.

I save to virtual tape using brms on one system. I ftp the the data to
another system. I can see it on the target system using DSPTAP specifying
the virtual tape device. I would like to dup this to physical media AND
have the information updated on the source system so that when I do the
WRKOBJBRM it will show me that it's also on this physical media.

Do I just now run
DUPMEDBRM VOL(*LIST)
FROMDEV(VRTDEV)
TODEV(TAPKVL01)
FROMVOL(VRT001 VRT002)
FROMSYS(APPN.SourceSystem)
TOVOL(*MOUNTED)
Do I have to do any MOVMEDBRM first?
Can I specify compaction at this time also?
