Well, on 7.1, with ?TR4? you get a new command called RUNSQL. I believe
you can execute GRANT from that. If so, you could easily imbed RUNSQL
into a CL program.
On obsolete versions of the OS you can work around this by using
RUNSQLSTM. But you have to put the statement into a source member. See
also STRQMQRY, etc.
As far as third party change management packages, I think that's one of
the great advantages of 'Change Management" versus source version control.
Change management packages will often match those settings on the
production machine. I'll let David chime in more. We're using the
product his 'day job' makes.
