1. Open System I navigator
2. Expand My AS/400 Connections
3. Expand the server you are connected to
4. Expand Databases
5. Right-Click on the database name for your system
6. Select Run SQL Scripts
7. Paste your SQL into the run SQL scripts
8. Select VisualExplain -> Explain
If any of the above do not exist you will have to configure.install the components.

I remember that, from the database optimization class I took at IBM Rochester, some years ago. Although, dusting off the workbook from that class, I can't even remember how to get to Visual Explain, assuming I even *can* get to it on *our* box. (And the actual situation is on a customer box, for which we only have TN5250 access.)
I was able to open something called "System i Navigator" on our box (and could probably model the situation there), but is that even the same thing? I don't see anything that looks like a path to Visual Explain.
