@JHHL: it exactly works, as I wrote in an earlier posting!!! It depends on the isolation level, you are using and in case of using Squirrel, this is configured with the driver settings and its looking like, you are using auto commit, meaning for DB2/400, you are using no record locks at all. To change this to something meaningfull, you would first have to start journaling for the file and then you could change the configuration of Squirrel.
