Brad, have you upp'd the ante on how many tables you can have from the
system value 163520, also, do you go for extended periods of time between
ipls.

Yes, it's related to the job table. We IPL this system with no issue from
time to time, yet on the IPL that immediately follows the OS upgrade this
happens. It ended up lasting over 3 hours and my LPPs didn't automatically
load plus the cross-reference table got corrupted. The only recourse would
have been to deactivate and manually IPL with options to either 1) remove
all the spooled files which would not go over well, or 2) disconnect
spooled files from their job record which would still be quite painful. All
that said I decided to wait it out which was agonizing because of the
unknown time element.

I lost 3-4 hours on the IPL stall plus another hour researching and
manually correcting the LPP load then reclaim storage because of the
corrupted cross-reference files.....but the story ended happily. The total
upgrade time was right @ 9 hours and all appears to be running smoothly on
said system.

Once again, I have seen post upgrade IPLs stall in the past, but not for
this long. Hopefully this post archive will provide some context to the
next person who runs into a delay @ C9002A95.

Does this have something to do with job tables and or changing the option
on CHGIPLA to compress them. So, did you re-ipl or let it continue.

I ran into this with a V7 restore test this last week. I deactivated,

For the archive C9002A95 stands for Abnormal Work Control Block Table

I am doing a V5R4 to V6R1 upgrade today. Everything was going quite
smooth until the IPL following the OS load stalled on C9002A95. I am
relatively certain this has happened to me in the past, but it wasn't
quite this long. As of this email, the C9002A95 SRC has been for
present just over 2 hours. My web searches aren't yielding much, only
a couple of comments and a few IBM documents that don't associate the
problem with an OS upgrade. Can anyone offer some experience with
this? The only recourse I have it to deactivate and IPL manually which
seems like an unattractive option. I would like to wait, but at some
point I have to cut my losses and do something. Thanks
