When I replace a system, I change the old server IP address and assign it to the new server. The end users don't know or care.

No, I don't think there is any feasible way to deploy a change like that to the clients. You have no way of knowing what .ws file they are even using for the connection. Even if you did, you'd have to have a custom program able to parse and edit or replace that file to change the IP address (or host name) in that file. Also, any connection settings from System i Navigator would be separate from the .ws file settings. There are also some settings stored in .CAE files depending on the configuration.

We currently have around 800 users and we are planning to deploy a new server before too much longer and I am concerned that some of those users will have an IP address configured for their 5250 session and that will fail when we deploy the server.

Has anyone been through the same issue and managed to deploy a change through active directory group policy or similar.

I have tried to 'google' for an answer but no joy.

TIA
